Technical insanity at its best!

I think I have an addiction…

I now own over 100 domain names that I use for myself. (ie: does not include domains I own for my business.) But I guess when you think about it, only a handful are for “personal” use and the rest are niche marketing sites that actually generate money which I claim under my business so they are not completely “personal” but more a “hobby”.

I have a hard time passing up good domain names I stumble onto. I can always think of a great idea for a domain name I may find that I think is good.

At least with having so many I qualify for a decent bulk rate!

Now if I could just get them all up and running with the ideas I have for each as I probably only have about 30-40 of them live…

There just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in a day…

Weekend Ramblings – 02-09-08

Last night we were out at the Tumbleweed Bar where I DJ’d a birthday party. Pretty good time but it’s a hard bar to play because of the layout. The sound doesn’t reach back to the bar correctly because of the floor plan but it turned out to be a decent night anyway.

Tonight we are still open for plans but thinking about checking out the Mardi Gras party over at West Side Bar.

Maybe we will see you there!

If I Can Teach You One Thing…

Ya know life is a crazy thing. One day you think you have it all figured out, and then something as simple as a phone call or text message or even an old song on the radio can make you question things at a very elementary level.

I’m reminded of an old country song that contains the following verse:

…Ain’t it funny how a melody, can bring back a memory, take you to another place in time, and even change your state of mind…

It’s so true.

Earlier I was looking at photos of an old friend, new photos to me, but old measured in internet time anyway, and I realized that life is very short.

Hold on to those you love and don’t let them slip away. Don’t let petty differences wreck friendships and relationships because it all can all be gone in the blink of an eye.

Don’t take people for granted. Soon enough they will figure it out and be gone.

Some days I wish I could rewind the past and live it over again. I would change so much. I hurt and pushed away so many people only to give anything now to spend just one more day with them.

Don’t make the same mistake.

DJ’ing Friday Night

I will be out at the Tumbleweed this Friday DJ’ing Mike’s birthday party.

Stop out if you are looking for a good time.

North Dakota’s Last Lynching

In the early morning hours of January 29, 1931, a mob broke into the
small stone jail at Schafer, North Dakota, and seized Charles Bannon.
The mob hanged Bannon from a nearby bridge. It was North Dakota’s last
lynching.

Bannon, who was 22 years old, had spent only a few days in the Schafer
jail prior to the break-in. He been moved from the larger and more
secure jail in Williston on January 23, 1931, so he could be arraigned
in Schafer on charges that he murdered the six members of the Haven
family. His father, James Bannon, was also confined in the Schafer
jail, awaiting arraignment as an accomplice to the murder

Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful…

Yesterday I enjoyed the 40-ish degree weather outside and took care of some outside tasks for most of the afternoon, knowing that the temperature was going to fall in the next couple of days.

Yeah, I just love this state 🙁

Linux Haters Are So Funny

Today, via Digg, I stumbled across this Linux bashing post. I got quite a kick out of the plain stupidity being presented and decided to investigate a little further.

That’s when I found this masterpiece by the same author on the same site. Again, I almost spit out my Diet Mountain Dew in response to the pure ignorance this guy was spewing forth.

So I decided to see if Mr. Microsoft has a website of his own. You bet he does! And quite a gas at that!

Not only is the ignoramus using and open source application (WordPress) to fulfill his blogging needs but he is also hosting his site using the open source Apache web server as proven by this error page, undoubtedly on a Linux web server as well. (Netcraft didn’t have the data when I checked, which shows his site probably isn’t on the high traffic side of things.)

This either leads me to believe that, in fact, Jerry Lee Cooper is either Linux fan trolling as a Microsoft zealot, or indeed one mis-guided individual. If the first case is true, props to you Jerry for giving such a believable display of ignorance, otherwise you may want to get your facts straight about “this Linux” you claim to know!

What do you think? Is Jerry a Linux troll looking for laughs or a mis-guided Microsoft fan that drank too much kool-aid?

Wall Street Stumbles

The New York Stock Exchange took a stumble this morning to the tune of almost 500 points. Enough in fact to get the Fed’s to lower interest rates .75% in an “emergency” meeting.

The markets have leveled off for the most part, with even a few heavy gainers including Lowes and Home Depot. Could speculation be that the new lower prime interest rates will spark a small housing boom?

I don’t know, that’s just my guess. But I do love the falling rates though. Borrowing money can never get cheap enough in my books!
