Technical insanity at its best!

Case of the Mondays…

The house siding is now officially done.

We also used the pool for the first time this year. A little cold but it’s getting there…

House siding almost done

It ran over schedule a little due to the 4 inches of rain we got last week in one day, but the siding should be completed today.

The house looks completely different. I think I can already tell a difference in cooling too with the added insulation.

The siding is almost done, the pool is up and going (after the 90 degree day today it should be warm enough to use also)

This is turning out to be a pretty good week and it’s only Monday!

Man in wheelchair takes ride on semi’s grille

PAW PAW — A young
man has quite the story to tell after his wheelchair got lodged in the
grill of a semi truck, which dragged the chair and the man inside for
five miles down a road.

Muscular dystrophy forced Ben
Carpenter, 22, of Alamo into a wheelchair eight years ago. He was on
one of his twice-weekly outings, this time in Paw Paw around 4 p.m.
Wednesday.

As he crossed Red Arrow Highway in front of a semi
truck, he didn’t make the traffic light. The truck driver apparently
didn’t see Carpenter and a collision occurred, causing the wheelchair’s
handles to become lodged in the truck’s grill.

This has to be the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard of!

The Golden Rule – Paris goes free

Those who have the gold make the rule, that is.

Paris Hilton serves 5 days of 45 day sentence.

She was originally sentenced to 45 days in jail, but that was reduced to 23. She served a total of five days — the normal stay for a violation of this kind. Her five days began Sunday night and concluded early Thursday morning.

Personally, I think she should still be there. Rumor is she even got a TV deal out of the whole thing…

Blogs that Matter

Over the weekend, I cleaned out quite a few of the rss feeds that I read. I was getting close to 200 feeds and the amount of noise was just getting to be too much. Sorry, I’m not Robert Scoble.

So how did I make the cuts?

Easy, I looked through the list and if I couldn’t remember a memorable post from the feed, I deleted it.

It’s actually easier than you think.

I also deleted a few meme type sites and searches I was subscribed to such as netscape and the search term “ubuntu” on digg.

I was getting way to much zealot noise for that term to be helpful in spotting new stuff anymore and besides I have a few Ubuntu feeds that have filled the gap such as Matt Vapor.

Then there are those sites that I look forward to every day, each for their own qualities. Some give me inspiration for new posts and others share their lives which is more interesting than I guess I would think.

So I decided to make a top ten list of the blogs I read that if I had to narrow it down these are the ones I would stay subscribed to. They appear in no particular order:

  1. Lifehacker.com
  2. Violent Acres
  3. Stuffleufagus
  4. John Chow.com
  5. Get Rich Slowly
  6. FiveCentNickel.com
  7. Matt Vapor’s Blog
  8. Frugal for Life
  9. Digg.com
  10. Scott Adams (Dilbert creator)

Please note that I have excluded the blogs of personal friends that I usually visit outside of the feed reader multiple times a day anyway just because… so don’t feel hurt if you didn’t make the list, I still read you!

Also please keep in mind that I am still subscribed to over 150 blogs so I probably didn’t weed you out unless you have been stagnant or are a meme-type site.

House Siding this week

We are vinyl siding the house a week early. So far they are making great progress.

Hopefully the weather won’t hold them up this week.

I will post pics when they are done…

It is gonna be weird going home to a different color house!

Happy Anniversary!

I want to wish a happy anniversary to my parents.

30 years.

update: for some reason this post never went through yesterday… so here it is now…

The 4-hour work week

In the next 24 hours, I made several simple but emotionally
difficult decisions that changed my life forever. First, I decided to
stop pursuing most of my customers so I could profile and duplicate the
most profitable ones. I was spending most of my time working on small
accounts, when the big five already ordered regularly, without any
follow-up.

I need to incorporate this into my business(es). Starting soon.

First I need to find a personal assistant. Any takers? How about Van Wilder type interviews?!
